Anyone who keeps their home in decent order has heard this exclamation before, especially
when the standard chores are done-the dishes are done, the laundry baskets are empty, no
dust appears on the tables, and the floors have been swept.

Even the most scrutinizing unannounced guest who appears at your door you will note that
everything is always in order. Your house is always so clean.

Congratulations, you have unknowingly passed the white glove test. People judge you by your
outward appearance. But outward does not always connect with inward; it does not reflect your
inner soul. It has been said that your home is a reflection of your true self, with personality, or
quirks, good taste, poor taste or eclectic taste. Whatever your design- good or bad it is you, how
you see yourself on the inside; the reflection of the deep inner workings of your soul.

But you know your house really is not clean, it only looks clean to those who are looking in from
the outside.

The clean dishes are still sitting in the dishwasher, the clean laundry is piled up in the storage
room, your children played board games on the coffee table and brushed the dust off with the
game board and the reason the floor looks swept is because your grandchildren pick up
whatever they find and put it in their mouths.

When you are conscientious, as all whom love Christ should be without going to an extreme your
home should be clean. But your heart should not be hiding the dirt or making excuses for any
unclean living.

In our home we hear often: “Your house is so clean!” We smile as a family thinking within, you
haven’t seen the entire house, just the spaces we have given you access to.

We have cobwebs up high that cleaning crews would like to ignore because more equipment is
needed to finish. There is the dreaded dust and dirt coming from the corners which happen to
be the hardest areas to reach. So hard that you have to get down real low, even sitting or
squatting on the floor, to either brush or scrape out the dusty dirt. If it takes more time in the
kneeling position, you get uncomfortable so you shift your weight from one knee to the other.
Have you knelt to clean your baseboards lately?

When a crew is called in on a quarterly basis they say aloud- you know the expression; “your
house is already so clean.” The standard job time is about four hours. But it never fails; they
always believe they will be out in two. You’re probably thinking that’s for deep cleaning only.
Well, yes that is the point. You need to deep clean your house.

No one’s house is so beautiful or so clean if the carpet has not been deep cleaned, the
upholstered fabrics refreshed, all the cobwebs have not been removed, the windows are not
washed, nor the window treatments cleaned, and the closets are cluttered.

The spiritual house requires deep cleaning too. Do not wait for the season to change to clean
up your soul. This clean up requires more than periodic maintenance, or general maintenance.

Look at your soul. Are you ready for the harvest of souls? Can you accept an invited guest
without embarrassment, or apology for the condition of your soul? Look at yourself, people are
watching you.  Some are drawn to you, are you sure you are ready to harvest these souls?
Open up your heart to the Father in truth. God is a Spirit and they who worship Him must
worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Stop hiding your dirt. You will be rewarded and others will
gratefully benefit.
